Souvenirs of Yanagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture
GOZA mainly focuses on "花ござ" (hanagoza), which is characterized by weaving dyed rush grass, through different weaving methods, such as Kakegawa weaving, pattern weaving, bag weaving, etc. to produce slender and gorgeous weaving patterns.
Kakegawa weaving is a traditional weaving method handed down from ancient times in the Chikugo area of Fukuoka Prefecture, which belongs to Japan's intangible heritage. In Kakegawa-ori, large weaves and small weaves are repeated alternately, and patterns are woven by changing the rush weave in the weft. The weave width is wider than other weaves, so the surface is flat and elastic. And since only the highest-grade Japanese rush is used, the product feels good on the skin.

【Introduction to Rush (い草)】
Rush, also enough rush grass, is a grass that grows in wetlands, and has been a daily household product of the Japanese since ancient times.
In Japan, the production areas are mainly in areas with long sunshine and sufficient rainfall, mainly Fukuoka and Kumamoto in Kyushu, and Okinawa in addition.
The quality of rush produced in Japan will be better than that of other places, because the seedlings are planted in the cold winter and are not harvested until the hot summer. Therefore, every grass can grow, a stem is strong, and the skin is tough. Tatami mats are woven from these thick thick stems, so they are elastic and comfortable to step on, and the feeling of lying down is absolutely different.

【Lifestyle items that make you relax physically and mentally】
Lying on the jigsaw rice, you will naturally feel relaxed, because the unique herbal fragrance of the rush is relaxing, and it also has antibacterial, humidity regulating and air cleaning effects.
Therefore, the Japanese now decorate and display rush rushes as dried flowers, and also make them into yoga exercise mats because of their sweat-absorbing and antibacterial properties.
